ASSISTANT Minority Leader and ACT Teachers Partylist Rep. France Castro slammed Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque for saying the public cannot choose which vaccine brand they might opt to receive. The solon said the public has every right to choose as the government uses public funds and this is a matter that concerns public health.
“The gall of Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque to say to the people they’ve forced to put on lockdown for almost a year that they cannot choose which vaccine brand they might opt to receive,” Castro said. “The people have every right to choose and demand for the most effective and cost efficient vaccine that the government will provide the people that it swore to serve.”
“When it comes to public health and public funds, it is right and just for the people to be ‘choosy’ to make sure that government will procure the most number of doses to be able to vaccinate more people using the vaccine that is most cost efficient and effective,” Castro added. “It is the government’s responsibility and mandate to provide the people the safest and most cost-efficient vaccine.
Castro said.
“We echo the people’s demand for transparency and accountability in vaccine procurement. If the Duterte administration fails to provide a comprehensive vaccine plan that will benefit more Filipinos, is most cost efficient and most effective, the spread of COVID-19 pandemic will continue and will further torment the lives and livelihood of the Filipino people,” Castro ended.
